Berlin, Germany

Our first time together in one of our new homes, Berlin! It was so nice to see each other again after 5 weeks apart getting our respective lives in order.  We had limited time, and unfortunately had to spend the first few days taking care of the many complex logistics of living in a new city – registration, bank account, phones, etc. I plan to write a very detailed post about this at some point, to help anyone who is ever moving to Germany with the many questions it would have been so helpful to have answered beforehand.

We were able to squeeze in a trip downtown for Street Food Thursday at Market Halle Neun: http://markthalleneun.de/maerkte/street-food-thursday, which is the epitome of what an indoor food market should be.  Krog St., Reading Terminal, and Faniel Hall pale in comparison.  The place is filled wall-to-wall with wine bars, microbrews, craft cheese and meat plates, specialty foods of every ethnicity you can imagine, and crowds of smiling people savoring the awesomeness! We got a pulled pork bao, mango lassi and white chocolate gelato, spinach and cheese dumplings, pork belly barbecue, and a delicious local german IPA (photo credit: http://www.ourawesomeplanet.com/).

And of course, we had to pop a bottle to  celebrate  this new life!
